The EGO LM2135E-SP is a 52cm self-propelled mower on EGO’s 56V battery platform, the largest in their walk-behind range and suited to a bigger garden where a 42cm machine would have you walking laps. It’s one we see a lot of people move to from an ageing petrol mower, and the draw is usually the same: no fuel or servicing to think about, and a battery that fits the rest of the EGO range, so a pack bought for the mower will also run your trimmer or hedgecutter. The polypropylene deck is lighter to handle than a steel one and won’t rust or dent, which is why it should outlast one.
The one habit to build is putting the battery on charge when you’ve finished. That’s the honest trade-off against petrol, where you just top up the tank. The kit comes with the 7.5Ah battery and the rapid charger, and EGO rate that combination at up to 1,000 m² on a single charge, with a full recharge in 60 minutes. It takes one battery at a time, so on a larger plot a second pack is worth having.
Rear-wheel drive does the pushing, with variable speed so you set the pace rather than the mower setting it for you. That matters at this width, because a 52cm machine with a full box is a lot to shove by hand, and it takes the work out of a slope. Seven cutting heights from 25mm to 90mm are set from one lever, and the 70-litre collector has a full indicator, with handlebars that fold clear of the box so you’re not fighting them when you empty it. You can mulch instead of collecting, though the mulching kit is a separate accessory rather than part of this kit.
It folds flat to under 40cm tall for storage, and the LED headlamps earn their keep in the shorter months. EGO back it with a five-year domestic warranty, or two years in professional use.
