The sports verticut differs from the standard verticut cartridge in one important way: its blades are angled backwards. Rather than simply slicing lateral growth out, they prune the plant in a way that encourages tillering and stolon formation, so the turf thickens from within.
That makes it a turf development tool rather than a tidying tool. Greenkeepers use it on bowling greens, golf greens and sports pitches where density is the objective and the surface is maintained to a programme. On an ordinary domestic lawn it is more cartridge than the job needs, and the standard verticut or the scarifier will serve you better for less money.
The 34in fits the Stadium 34 only and carries a 2-year professional warranty. The 17in and 20in are currently out of stock at Cobra, so give us a ring for a lead time before you commit to a date.
