The EGO LM1701E is the entry point to EGO's 56V battery range, and the one we point people to when they want onto the platform without spending big: a 42cm push mower that's good value and a sensible first battery machine. There's no self-propelled drive to buy or maintain, which keeps the price and the weight down, and the polypropylene deck is lighter to handle than steel and won't rust or dent.

It runs on the same 56V packs as every other EGO tool, so the battery you buy for the mower will run an EGO trimmer or hedgecutter later. Worth knowing before you buy: it comes with the 2.5Ah battery, which EGO rate at up to 400 m² on a single charge. That covers a small lawn, but on anything larger you'll be stopping to recharge, so it's worth factoring in a bigger pack. The mower takes any EGO battery, so a 4.0 or 5.0Ah pack buys you noticeably more time between charges.

Seven cutting heights from 20mm to 80mm are set from a single lever, and you can collect into the 55-litre bag, mulch the clippings back into the lawn, or rear-discharge. The handlebars fold down so it stores upright against a wall, and the LED headlamps help in the darker months. EGO back it with a five-year domestic warranty.
