The EGO LM1903ESP is where the range starts to cover serious ground. The step up to a 47cm deck plus self-propelled drive makes a real difference to how much lawn you get through, which is why it's the one to look at over the 42cm models once a garden gets beyond small. It's rear-wheel drive with variable speed, so you set the walking pace and let it take the effort out of a slope or a full box.

The wider deck is matched to a 5.0Ah battery and a rapid charger, and EGO rate that combination at up to 800 m² on a single charge with a full recharge in around 40 minutes. It takes one battery at a time, so on a larger plot a spare pack is worth having, and because it uses EGO's standard 56V packs the same battery runs your other EGO tools.

Seven cutting heights are set from a single lever, and you can collect into the 55-litre bag, mulch, or rear-discharge. The polypropylene deck is lighter to handle than steel and won't rust or dent, the handlebars fold down for upright storage, and the LED headlamps help in the shorter days. EGO back it with a five-year domestic warranty.
