The EGO LM2021E-SP is a 50cm self-propelled mower kit from EGO's Professional range, and the only one in it with a steel deck. It covers more ground per pass than the 47cm LM1914E-SP without stepping up to the 52cm LM2135E-SP. Supplied with a 5Ah battery and rapid charger, EGO rate it at up to 700m² on a single charge, enough for most medium to larger gardens in one go. If you already run EGO batteries, the bare-tool LM2020E-SP is the same mower for less.

Rear-wheel self-propelled drive with automatic variable speed does the walking for you, so slopes and longer sessions stop being hard work. The steel deck is 3-in-1: bag into the 60L collector, mulch back into the lawn, or side discharge when the grass is long. It's a substantial machine at 27kg, and the telescopic handle folds flat to store it upright against a wall.

Worth being straight about: on the same 5Ah battery, the wider deck buys you fewer passes to finish rather than a longer run time. Where the 50cm earns its place is open medium-to-large lawns, where the extra width and the drive save real time; for smaller or fiddly gardens the narrower decks are easier to place. EGO back it with a five-year domestic warranty, or two years in professional use, and the battery for three years domestic.
