The EGO LM1700ESP is a 42cm self-propelled cordless mower for a small to medium lawn, sold as the bare tool for anyone who already has an EGO 56V battery. If you are new to EGO, buy the LM1702ESP kit instead: it is this same mower with a 4Ah battery and charger in the box.
Rear-wheel drive does the pushing at a speed you set, which is what you want on a sloping or uneven lawn, or going uphill with a full 55L bag. It weighs 24kg without a battery. EGO quote around 30 minutes of mowing on a 4Ah pack, and any EGO 56V battery fits, so the pack from your trimmer, blower or hedgecutter will run it.
EGO have since updated it as the LM1710ESP, which adds an LED dashboard and three blade speeds. If you don't need those, this is the simpler machine: push-button start and one lever for all seven cutting heights. The trade-off against the push LM1700E is 2kg more weight, and the drive draws on the same battery as the blade, so expect a little less mowing per charge than a push mower on the same pack. EGO back it with a five-year domestic warranty.
